The Countess of Fife Live Steam

The Countess of Fife is an insurgent country outfit featuring Fay Fife - best known as creative force with legendary punk band The Rezillos. The Countess of Fife defies categories but somehow locates itself within the insurgent country world. Fay says 'The Countess of Fife has a strong country slant but also has a punky edge in that some of the songs are intentionally raw and edgy... I decided I had lots of musical ideas and that I wanted to experiment. I’ve been a lover of country for a long time and wanted to do my own thing in that direction. It allows me to sing in a different way and to get in contact with spiritual and softer themes...” The Countess of Fife was begun in late 2016 by Fay alongside Allan Mcdowall of seminal post-punk country outfit So You Think You're A Cowboy. Initially formed as a writing project, The Countess of Fife has grown in to a live outfit with a dedicated following. A more permanent lineup of 4 key members formed in 2019 and along the way they have played several well received Radio sessions and have attracted some fine press reviews. Shows have included ButeFest, Outwith Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe and Cash Back. They have appeared as special guests at The Garage in Glasgow and Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms. They recently headlined MacArts in Galashiels (Nov 2019) and were due to play Muck & Mac Fest in July 2020. They are currently developing their sound and songs for a planned studio album. Key members are: Fay Fife - Lead Vox & Keys Lord Mcdowall - Guitar & Vox Thaddeus G Pycroft - Double bass, Ukulele bass Lady Nora Noonan - Drums & Vox
